Meet Photographer Darin Melton in Inman Park
This Friday, January 26, stop by our Inman Park location to meet our current artist, photographer Darin Melton.
Darin had this to say about his work:
When I was a child, I wanted to be a witch. My family indulged me in costumes, toys, movies, and games. I loved The Wizard of Oz, and my favorite board game was Which Witch.
What they didn’t know was that I was convinced that the women in my family were witches. I saw how my mother and grandmother finished each other’s sentences and would unknowingly wear the same color, and I desperately worried that this magic would pass down to my sister and not to me. So every Halloween I put on my black hat and cape and furiously zoomed back and forth on my swingset’s glider, hoping to become airborne.
While you won’t find pictures of witches in my photography, this childhood preoccupation would eventually shape itself into the personal vision that informs my work.
We hope you can join us at his opening reception this Friday, January 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Inman Park.
